Book reveiw 2, A how-to book.

For this book review I read the amazing book: Make a Scene by Jordan Rosenfield. This book was devoted entirely about writing the perfect powerful scene in a piece of fiction which happens to be my favorite genre to write. In the book she masterfully crafted ways to develop characters, plots, moods, and more. I loved the way she said plot was the single most important part of a story and that everything that happens to your character must be plot related or it won’t make a good book. I had never thought that everything a character goes through has to contribute to the plot in some way. I always thought plots were sort of guidelines to make a story interesting.

Jordan Rosenfield also discussed the importance of having powerful characters. She said it’s always hard to make something horrible happen to your character because you really want your character to have everything work out for their own benefit. She said that every challenge, that’s plot related, will help them grow and become different that every character has to grow or it will not interest the reader. She also discussed that dramatic tension, the thing that keeps the reader reading, can be used through characters. To take away something your character really craves and put it off creates dramatic tension that will keep the reader reading because they want to know what happens next. I really loved her techniques and I will work more on plot for my own stories.
